Silver Lake Psychology is a woman-owned enterprise led by an all-female leadership team, and it has swiftly evolved into a thriving mental health network spanning four states. Dr. Brandy Engler, a psychologist and accomplished author, serves as the Founder of Silver Lake Psychology. After the success of her books, “The Men on My Couch” (published by Berkley Books) and “The Women on My Couch,” Dr. Engler initiated a group practice in response to the overwhelming demand.
Dr. Engler envisioned a company culture that was deeply rooted in her expertise in relationships, emphasizing the cultivation of empathy, empowering clients to have a voice in their treatment, and fostering inclusivity. New clients are warmly welcomed, their individual stories are attentively heard, and their therapists are carefully chosen. In the early stages, Dr. Engler personally met with clients in the evenings and handled inquiries from prospective clients during the day. This allowed her to engage in profound community listening, understanding what people sought from therapy and the barriers they encountered in accessing mental health care. As a result, she established a company that prioritizes the needs of clients. Today, Silver Lake Psychology is affiliated with hospitals and universities, offering an impressive array of 120 different therapy specialties and providing therapy in 17 different languages to ensure the diverse needs of clients are met.
Within our network of licensed clinicians, we offer evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based techniques, and EMDR. Our therapists undergo additional training and attain special certifications, enabling them to address a wide range of mental health conditions such as substance abuse, trauma, eating disorders, and depression.
We do not operate like a patient assembly line. Rather than hastily assigning you to the first available therapist, our dedicated intake team devotes time to understanding your unique needs and then meticulously selects a therapist based on your preferences.
Effective therapy relies on finding the perfect match between therapist and client. To ensure this, our intake team employs a psychologist-designed set of concise questions to ascertain that you are connected with the therapist best suited for you.
Therapy is effective when two conditions are met: the clinician uses techniques based on research supported protocols and the therapist ‘feels like a fit’–meaning a personality match that leads to a bond, or therapeutic relationship that itself becomes healing and transformative. It’s hard to quantify the value of feeling heard, understood, challenged and supported.Research indicates that Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is effective for anxiety, social anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorders, phobias and panic attacks.
