Silver Lake Psychology is a woman-owned establishment led by an entirely female leadership team, and it has rapidly expanded into a burgeoning mental health network spanning four states. Dr. Brandy Engler, a psychologist and accomplished author known for her books, “The Men on My Couch” (published by Berkley Books) and “The Women on My Couch,” serves as the Founder of Silver Lake Psychology.
Following the substantial success of her literary works, Dr. Engler initiated a group practice to address the overwhelming demand for her services. Dr. Engler envisioned a company culture deeply rooted in her relationship expertise, aiming to cultivate empathy, empower clients to have a voice in their treatment, and promote inclusivity.
New clients are cordially welcomed, and their individual stories are attentively heard, after which their therapists are thoughtfully selected. During the initial stages, Dr. Engler would personally meet with clients in the evening and handle inquiries from prospective clients during the day. Her active engagement with the community, which involved keenly listening to their desires from therapy and recognizing the hurdles they encountered when seeking mental health care, led to the establishment of a company that prioritizes the needs of clients. Today, Silver Lake Psychology boasts affiliations with hospitals and universities, offering an extensive array of 120 different therapy specialties and providing therapy services in 17 different languages, ensuring that clients’ diverse needs remain at the forefront of its mission.
Couples engage in disagreements, and acknowledging this reality can be challenging. Marriage and family therapists suggest that these disagreements can occur at varying frequencies, from every few months to as often as monthly. Nevertheless, if your arguments consistently lead to conflicts, resentment, or the adoption of unhealthy coping strategies, seeking assistance may prove advantageous.
These disputes often exhibit recurring patterns, encompassing their triggers and outcomes. Exploring behavioral therapy or acquiring skills in interpersonal communication can be of help when it comes to recognizing these patterns and fortifying your relationships.
In therapy, you may learn to actively listen by hearing what your partner has to say and giving them space to speak their mind. Instead of focusing on fighting less, couples might focus on better communication when disagreements arise during a relationship.
While in the heat of the moment, it can feel challenging to act objectively. However, learning to discuss thoughts and feelings healthily may be an invaluable foundation for a healthier relationship. In counseling, it can help to have the following points in mind.
